ZAGG InvisibleShield screen protector for Apple Watch

ZAGG InvisibleShield for Apple watch Curve Elite screen protector does at least what it promises: it is invisible and it protects your Apple Watch well

A glass screen protector for your Apple Watch that covers the entire screen. Is that recommended? We started with the ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass Curve Elite screen protector and tell about our experiences here.

A screen protector made of glass

Since I saw some scratches on the screen, it seemed like a good idea to protect my Apple Watch a little better from now on. But yes, a regular ‘sticker’ on the screen quickly looks ugly. It had to be a ‘curved’ version, one that bends along the edges so that you don’t see it. And preferably one of glass, with good impact protection against bumps. If you don’t want to take any risks and prefer a well-known brand, then the Belkin ScreenForce UltraCurve ( 30 euros ) and the ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass Curve Elite screen protector ( also 30 euros ) are the most obvious choices. I tested the latter in conjunction with my 42mm Apple Watch Series 3, but they are also available for other generations and formats.

Specifications

If you are not in a hurry, you can also buy such screen protectors for next to nothing. But I immediately wanted a solution to my problem and did not want to doubt whether the quality would be good. ZAGG does not make half the effort to properly clean your screen: you will receive an alcohol wipe, a cleaning cloth and a self-adhesive sticker, which you must use in succession.

The sticker is intended to remove the last dust and hair, but in my case it turned out to have an undesirable side effect as well. Because you are exerting a lot of pulling force on the screen, the screen can become loose. This will especially happen with Apple Watches where the adhesive layer around the screen is no longer so good. Unfortunately, I only found out the next day that I had immediately pulled the screen off by placing the screen protector .

Another thing I noticed is that after sticking the screen protector there were still quite a few air bubbles under the screen protector, while I had been working on it very concentrated and in a clean environment. I was afraid that everything had failed and that I might as well take the screen protector off again. But don’t panic. After a day or two the air bubbles had shrunk and after three days they were completely gone. It looks perfect now. Except that I now have to wear an extra case around my Apple Watch, to prevent the screen from falling out.

At the bottom left you see the sticker that you have to remove from the screen.

ZAGG supplies an orange holder with which you can align the screen protector exactly right. And that is nice, because without help it is a very precise job to get this exactly right. After sticking on, remove the orange holder again. You can then throw away everything from the packaging, except of course the screen protector itself. How easily it will go off again remains to be seen. I tried to remove it after testing, but in the end I didn’t. It was a bit tricky and I didn’t want to force my loose screen any more.

Therefore, keep in mind that you probably only apply this screen protector once and that you are careful with the use of the self-adhesive sticker. It has such an adhesive power that you can best press your screen firmly while pulling it off. After a few days of use, I have not yet been able to detect any scratches on the screen protector.

Conclusion – ZAGG InvisibleShield for Apple Watch review

The ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass Curve Elite screen protector does at least what it promises: it is invisible and it protects your Apple Watch well. I only have complaints about the application: ZAGG should warn that you can initially see fairly large air bubbles, but that they will gradually disappear. In my opinion, the sticker could also be omitted: that only leads to additional damage. The manufacturer does give a guarantee if your Apple Watch breaks through impacts, but that guarantee does not apply to loose-fitting screens due to the strong pulling force of a sticker. Then keep your head when you apply this screen protector. After that you don’t have to worry about it anymore.
