TP-Link Deco Voice X20: WiFi mesh router with Alexa

TP-Link launched a Wifi mesh router, TP-Link Deco Voice X20, that is equipped with built-in voice assistant Alexa for better performance of mesh network

Talk to a WiFi receiver? That will soon be possible with the new WiFi mesh router from TP-Link. The recently announced TP-Link Deco Voice X20 is equipped with voice assistant Alexa.

TP-Link Deco Voice X20

TP-Link has the new WiFi mesh router announced during CES 2021, which takes place virtually this year due to the corona virus. The Deco Voice X20, which we find in the editorial office and a bit like an inverted water bottle from Dopper, is a combination of a mesh network and a smart speaker.

WiFi mesh network

The Deco Voice X20 is, like many other TP Link Deco line routers, a WiFi mesh system. This means there are different nodes that are connected to each other. There is a constant switch to the node with the best connection, so that you have a strong connection everywhere in the house.

TP-Link is talking about the use of two Deco Voice X20 nodes when announcing a range of about 4,000 square feet with two. TP-Link also promises no signal loss in activities that normally consume the connection. You can think of gaming in the cloud, making video calls or streaming high-quality videos.

Built-in voice assistant Alexa in TP-Link Deco Voice X20

A big plus of the Deco Voice X20 is that there is a built-in voice assistant. And what the addition of the word ‘Voice’ suggests, we can talk to any station of the WiFi mesh system.

Unfortunately Alexa is not yet supported in Dutch: it was previously used Smarthomeweb.nl read that Alexa Voice Services to the Netherlands was expanded, but this says nothing about the arrival of the Dutch language.

Not a first for TP-Link

With the launch of a WiFi mesh system with built-in voice assistant TP-Link is certainly not a first. Google Nest has done this before with Google Nest Wifi.
