Anker PowerCore Wireless 10K – compact power bank in pocket format
If you are looking for a power bank for on the go , you should now be careful, because now we come to the Anker PowerCore Wireless 10K Powerbank test. This will be delivered directly to your home in blue and white packaging. First of all, the biggest specialty: The Powerbank is qi-capable and supports pass-through charging; We’ll clarify what that is in a moment. Let’s talk quickly about the scope of delivery in advance. In addition to the PowerCore Wireless 10K, the small package also includes a transport bag , a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, operating instructions and an 18-month guarantee card.
The included charging cable is sufficiently long at around 1.20 meters . Take our first impression in hand: Typical anchor! A simple black surface with matt properties. Except for the rubberized circle with the anchor lettering, the power bank is made entirely of polycarbonate. The workmanship is still solid, so that the PowerCore Wireless 10K looks robust. The only drawback: the rubberized surface magically attracts fingerprints. However, this makes the material more durable and less prone to scratches .
Now we come to the technical data and how the Qi power bank works. As the name suggests, the PowerCore Wireless 10K has a total of 10,000 mAh of battery capacity (based on 3.7 volts cell voltage). The four typical blue LEDs were installed on the side to visualize the remaining capacity. Opposite is a button to call it up.
This is how the power bank performs
In our test, as promised by Anker, we tried to get the maximum out of the power bank. The two USB-A ports paired with the Qi charging surface on the top allow up to three devices to be charged at the same time . In our test, we did this with an iPhone XR, an iPhone 11 and a pair of AirPods. The PowerCore Wireless 10k got warm, but not uncomfortably hot. All three devices charged at a reasonable rate .
An advantage here that many competitors do not support: pass-through charging . This technology allows the power bank to charge other devices and be charged itself at the same time. For example, the PowerCore Wireless 10K can function as a Qi-Pad on the bedside table when you are on vacation , practical!
The integrated Qi-Pad delivers 5 watts as standard. The two USB ports support charging speeds of up to 12 watts . In our test, that was enough to recharge an iPhone XR in around 2.5 hours. The Qi-Pad of course took longer with an iPhone 11 Pro at over four hours. In the middle between the two USB ports, Anker installed a USB-C port for charging the power bank. This enables the PowerCore Wireless to be charged with up to 10 watts. A charging process took a little over five hours. Not a top value , but quite acceptable.
Applications and criticisms of the PowerCore Wireless 10K Powerbank from Anker
Overall, the PowerCore Wireless 10K convinced us with its versatility . The power bank is perfect for everyday use or when traveling thanks to its 3-fold charging option. For example, you can use the Qi power bank in the office as a wireless charging pad and simultaneous power supply for iPad, AirPods or other gadgets. This means that unnecessary cables and chargers can be dispensed with in everyday life or when traveling. In addition, the integrated Qi-Pad worked reliably, even through smartphone cases. The rubberized surface also ensures a non-slip grip of the phone on the power bank.
As a point of criticism and at the same time a suggestion for improvement, we would like to add the one-sided use of the USB-C port, because it can only be used to charge the power bank and not output electricity. We would also have been happy if the integrated Qi pad had supported at least 7.5 watts or even 10 watts. Perhaps Anker will make improvements here in the next generation. So if you are looking for a fast and wired charge via USB-C, you should rather use the PowerCore Essential 20,000 PD .
