Review: Pitaka Air Omni Lite : more charger is not possible

Review: Pitaka Air Omni Lite - we are very satisfied with the Air Omni Lite charging station . The look matches the other Pitaka products

Review: Pitaka Air Omni Lite – For some a necessary evil, for others no problem. Which charger suits me and my devices best? This is the question facing buyers of the new iPhone 12 or Galaxy S21 series, which no longer include a power supply unit. With the Air Omni Lite, Pitaka has now presented a multifunctional charging dock that should leave nothing to be desired. We tested it for you.

Anyone who has followed us for a long time already knows the US company Pitaka . Only recently did we take a closer look at their new cases and the new magnetic wallet. The MagEZ Case & Card Sleeve test can be found here. Today, however, it should be about the Air Omni Lite Dock, because Pitaka is not only known for their smartphone cases, but also for  versatile chargers .

First impression, scope of delivery and color variations of the 6-in-1 charging station

The dock is delivered in an environmentally friendly cardboard box . However, the Air Omni Lite is also available with an alternative transport case, which you can select during the ordering process. The case has an additional mesh inside. So you can take the dock with you when you travel. The price does not change here. You will also receive quick instructions in the scope of delivery . In addition, there is the dock including power supply unit and a small magnetic holder , which we will talk about later.

For the power supply unit, the following should be noted: the connector is  proprietary  and therefore cannot be exchanged. However, you can use an optionally available country-specific attachment with the charger if you are planning a stay abroad in a country with different sockets.

At just over a kilogram and 205.6 × 171.9 × 31.1 millimeters, the dock itself is definitely not the smallest charging station. If you look at the range of functions, the size is okay again. We can’t complain about the quality of Pitaka either, everything is of the same high quality as usual and nothing creaks or plays. We decided on the classic black model , which is covered with the aramid fiber material known from Pitaka . Alternatively, there is a wooden option in brown and a gray fabric variant. So there should be the right model for every taste.

An overview of the different charging options: Charge up to 6 devices at the same time

Now we come to the most important part, the charging properties and functions of the Air Omni Lite. Let’s start with the top, where you can put qi-enabled smartphones upright or horizontally. Three wireless charging coils are built into the front part of the charging station . Since these are overlapping, the smartphone can hardly be misplaced. The maximum wireless output power supported here is 10 watts . Considering the price, we would have been happy about at least 15 watts. However, iPhones, for example, are currently only able to consume 7.5 watts wirelessly, provided that MagSafe is left out.

Another Qi coil is installed on the left , which charges wireless headphones, among other things. We have successfully tested the whole thing with the AirPods Pro from Apple  and the brand new Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro headphones .

fold-out stand is integrated in the middle . This is used to charge all Apple Watches available on the market. Unfortunately, there is no charging cable included, so you have to use your own. The original Apple Watch charging cable can then be threaded precisely into the holder . On the underside of the dock you then have to plug the cable into the existing USB port and you can charge your Apple Watch. A nice feature: the holder can be moved out of the dock very gently at the push of a button. Depending on the bracelet you choose, you can charge the Apple Watch sideways or flat on the Air Omni Lite Dock.

The last charging option on the top is a changeable plug . Pitaka has installed a USB C and a Lightning port here. This is changed with a simple push of a button on the back of the Air Omni Lite Dock. A fold-out backrest for the corresponding devices can also be found there. There is also a small magnetic mount for the top of the dock. There you can either place your iPhone, iPad or iPod with Lightning or USB C. A charging speed of up to  18 watts is supported here . We successfully tested the connector with an iPad Pro from 2018 via USB C. Our iPhone 12 Pro Max was also quickly charged with 18 watts via FastCharge –even without an Apple power supply .

Who has counted so far comes to four devices. However, there are two more connections on the side . One USB A and one USB C, here you can, for example, supply your power bank, a camera or even a Nintendo Switch with power. Here, too, an output of a maximum of 18 watts is delivered. At least 15 watts per port are used in parallel , an acceptable value.

In our test we tried to push the dock to its limits with an iPhone 12 Pro Max, the AirPods Pro, an iPad Pro 11 “, an Apple Watch Series 4, a power bank and a Nintendo Switch. The Air Omni Lite charging station got noticeably warm , but not uncomfortably hot. All devices were reliably charged . Much more than these 6 devices did not fit on our bedside table. In any case, the Pitaka charging station saves a lot of unnecessary power supplies, including cable clutter .

Review: Pitaka Air Omni Lite- Conclusion

Before we draw a conclusion, we would like to briefly address the integrated subject and criticize it a little. On the right side, Pitaka has installed a small practical compartment including lighting . Here you can store your jewelry or memory cards, for example. As a criticism we would like to cite the missing Apple Watch charging cable, the not too fast wireless charging of 10 watts and the relatively high price. This fluctuates between 120 and 140 euros . If you want, you can calculate the price with the saved chargers and power supply unit.

Otherwise, we are very satisfied with the Air Omni Lite charging station . The look matches the other Pitaka products and the workmanship is neat. All of the charging options advertised work perfectly and reliably . The Air Omni Lite Dock for 139 euros is a great gadget, especially for the bedside table at home or when traveling . If you are looking for more cool products, you can also take a look at these Apple gadgets . All Apple fans get their money’s worth here.
