Review: OPPO Reno4 Lite : OPPO it pushes itself very aggressively on our market, trying to form the image of a premium brand that it enjoys in China. A place after troubled troubles Huawei waiting to be developed, telecoms need a counterweight Samsung and the Chinese giant seems to be the perfect candidate here. It is still missing a solid flagship with the most powerful processor in the portfolio, but because FindX 2 Pro is sold in Europe, nothing stands in the way of entering Poland with him, or with his successor. Even for image purposes. Remember that the first one, structurally amazing Find X, was officially distributed with us.
Meanwhile, it hit our hands Reno4 Lite, which is the cheapest of the four representatives of this year’s fourth edition of the series Reno. It costs PLN 1599, and in return we will get, among others fantastic AMOLED screen, great photos and very good performance. It is obvious, however, that the manufacturer had to save on something – so here we do not have the increased screen refreshment, inductive charging, waterproof or 5G fashionable this season. In this light, the price may seem a bit exorbitant, but the phone definitely gains on closer inspection. Let’s see what are its advantages and disadvantages.
How do we rate design? – 5
OPPO Reno4 Lite it is a nice smartphone, although it is difficult to talk about originality here, but for me its biggest advantage is … low weight. Recently, devices weighing well over 200 g have come into my hands and against their background OPPO Reno4 Lite is the proverbial “feather” – 164 g is nothing. In addition, the phone is very thin (dimensions are 160.14 x 73.77 x 7.48 mm). Thanks to this, it is held in the hand and is very pleasant to use. It is also worth praising the fact that, despite such dimensions, the manufacturer managed to stuff a quite capacious, 4000 mAh battery into the structure.
The back of the device is plastic, but very nice (in my copy it is a pearl color that shimmers with various colors), mostly matte (except for the vertical strip), pleasant to the touch and does not collect fingerprints. I liked it so much that I took a chance and this time I did not pack the device in a transparent silicone case, which we will find in the box. I managed to keep it from falling, and after the tests, there was no scratch on it. What I like less is the square, protruding above the surface island on the left with device-style camera lenses Apple.
On the lower edge we have a mini-jack input for headphones, USB-C, a single (unfortunately) but loud and clear-sounding speaker. On the right side there is only a button to turn the device on, a tray for two SIM cards with a separate space for a memory card and the volume control buttons are located on the opposite edge.
Overall, despite the lack of some originality, the smartphone for its class is simply very nice, made very carefully and fits perfectly in the hand.
The display
The front is a flat AMOLED screen with a diagonal of 6.43 inches, FHD + 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution, 20: 9 aspect ratio, it is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 glass. one scratch). The frames around are a bit large, especially the large chin may be offensive. On the other hand, the colors are beautiful, strong and saturated, I had no problems with visibility on sunny days, the viewing angles were perfect, definitely nothing to complain about. In the settings, we can choose their temperature (cold, default, warm). In the upper left corner we have a “tablet” hiding two eyes – the camera and the depth measurement, thanks to which we can shoot movies with blurring the background. Screen refresh is only in the traditional 60 Hz.
We do not have a notification LED, but there is information displayed on the screen, which is called Always-on screen. We have several impressive clocks to choose from, and we also see information from all applications.
A fingerprint reader is hidden under the display, which is very fast and error-free. The phone can also be unlocked with the face (accompanied by an animation around the front camera) and this method is also quick and hassle-free.
Specs / Operating System?
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio P95 processor with the PowerVR GM9446 graphics chip, it has 8 GB of RAM to help. Such a set brings out 218,513 points in AnTuTu Benchmark (around 80 places). In my daily entertainment and office work (YouTube, calling, SMS, instant messaging, Internet) I have nothing to complain about. The phone is smooth, fast, immediately responds to our commands, I did not catch it when I was thinking or out of breath. Pages load at a very good pace, bookmarks thanks to 8 GB RAM are kept in memory for a long time and it is very pleasant to use. But if someone wants to change OPPO Reno4 Lite in a portable console, he will have to choose lower graphics settings for more demanding games – on PUBG he had to lose a few frames from time to time, the smoothness was “OK”, but nothing more. However, I did not notice the excessive heating of the device.
The phone has no problems with GPS, the location is accurate and fast, we have NFC, so we will pay contactless. The quality of calls is at a very good level.
The communication package includes: Bluetooth 5.1, dual band WiFi, NFC, aptX HD. Location is realized using: GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo. The sensor kit includes: accelerometer, proximity, lights, magnetometer, gyroscope, gravity, fingerprint reader.
The system is Android 10 (security at the time of the October test), with the ColorOS 7.2 overlay. In addition to the obvious settings, such as gestures or a dark theme, we have a lot of possibilities to customize the look – drawer or simple modes, application grid density, various themes, wallpapers or icon styles. There is an intelligent sidebar to which we can pin various applications, we can perform gestures on the off screen or in the air (e.g. answering the phone), there is also an application lock, a private safe or a children’s mode. Finally, we have the ability to clone selected social applications, game space and application manager with different permissions.
Camera

The photo application is clear and logically arranged, at the bottom we have the ultra night modes (with an additional tripod mode), video (with ultra-stabilization and the ability to record with background blur), photo (with HDR, AI and filters), portrait, and under the tab “more ”We find Google Lens, slow motion, professional expert mode, stickers, text scanner, panorama and time-lapse movie. When photographing, we can move between a wide angle, an ordinary photo, or a 2 and 5x digital zoom (the maximum is 10x).
Moving on to the photos themselves – usually smartphones with a note Lite in the name they can not boast of outstanding or even good quality of photography and they rather go for the opinion of better and more expensive models. It is different here, on the one hand, looking at the note Lite, it surprised me a bit, but on the other hand, already testing one of the phones OPPO, not surprisingly. This company simply puts a lot of emphasis on photography and such shots and quality would not be ashamed of many more expensive smartphones.
The photos are very pleasing to the eye, have strong but still natural and not oversaturated colors, a very good tonal range and a great amount of detail from both lenses. The digital zoom is good – even 5x. The background blur looks pleasing to the eye – both natural and in portrait mode. Night shots are also great – they are nicely brightened, and the light source is kept under control in each of the 4 modes (wide angle, normal, 2 and 5x). The selfies are also of very good quality. The phone has no trouble catching and keeping focus.
We can record video in 4K, FHD and HD on the back and FHD and HD on the front. The quality is very good, the electronic image stabilization works well. And here and here we can also record videos with background blur and it looks quite nice.

How long does the battery last?
The cell has a capacity of 4000 mAh and it was enough for me for two days of intensive work with about 7 hours of screen on. The charger has a power of 30W, and the battery will be fully charged in about 50 minutes. We don’t have inductive charging.
Conclusion
OPPO Reno4 Lite on paper, it may not look impressive, but on closer examination it gains a lot and is a successful phone – comfortable, light, handy, nice and very well made. The operation should also be assessed as a big plus, because by definition it is not a smartphone for demanding players, so no one will expect smooth gameplay from it with maximum details. All the rest of the users will be satisfied. The lack of inductive charging with fast charging can be forgiven, the lack of the IP 68 standard, i.e. also waterproof, is not a standard in this class. However, the price remains – which is simply high for the class of the device. As I wrote, OPPO it wants to be premium, and it costs money. However, a price lower by PLN 200 would be more equivalent to what we get in return, for PLN 1,600 we are already able to buy phones with a more efficient processor, higher 90 or 120 Hz screen refreshing, stereo speakers and even 5G support. Who, however, decides to allocate such an amount to OPPO Reno4 Lite – you will not be disappointed.
