Review: Olight Marauder 2- Not all flashlights are the same. With the Olight Warrior X Pro and the Olight I 1R II EOS, we had already reviewed two products from the German company. Today’s post is about the Olight Marauder 2, which is an extraordinary model. The compact but extremely powerful flashlight convinced us immediately. But read for yourself what the handy lamp has to offer.
The Olight Marauder 2 flashlight comes in a brand-typical box with white colors and imprints on the most important facts. The packaging is particularly stable and can be opened to the side. Two magnets hold the lid in place. In addition to the flashlight, the scope of delivery consists of a user manual, a neck strap, a USB-C to USB-C charging cable and the associated power plug with an output of 30 watts . The power supply unit is equipped with a US attachment as standard, but an adapter for European sockets is included. The power plug is extremely compact for high performance.
Olight Marauder 2: Heavy torch with a very good grip
The Marauder 2 is not only a massive appearance . Taken in hand for the first time, you can feel a decent weight, which makes the manufacturer’s information of 750 grams seem too little. You immediately notice the extremely high quality of the material and workmanship. With a length of only 14 centimeters, the lamp is relatively compact. For the complex technology, the scope is then increased. The diameter of 53 millimeters on the shaft is still easy to grasp. The rubberized and patterned coating on the handpiece ensures a secure hold. There are also slight curves for an even more comfortable grip.
The head piece is rigid and has no moving parts. A blue ring around the light element protrudes slightly so that the Marauder 2 can also be placed upside down without getting damaged. Furthermore, the cooling fins can be found on the head piece, which should prevent overheating of the internal lighting elements. The large LED in the lamp head with 850 lumens is arranged in the middle and is responsible for the focused light beam with a particularly long range. The 12 additional LEDs arranged in a ring around it ensure the diffused floodlight effect and together have a luminosity of up to 14,000 lumens .
High quality workmanship and 13 LEDs
The complete flashlight consists of an aluminum alloy and is of extremely high quality . Our black model is simple and the blue accents shimmer beautifully in a rich shade. The easily accessible operating elements and the pull-out eyelet are located on the handpiece in the lower area. The lanyard supplied can be attached here with a key ring. Above that there is a slider to switch between focused and diffused light. The multifunctional rotary control is placed just below the lamp head . Two LED bars with seven points each are arranged to the left and right.
The right LED indicators show the current charge level of the Olight Marauder 2 at a glance. On the left, the brightness is displayed with a total of seven levels. In the unlocked state, the rotary control is pressed to switch it on and off like a normal button. Then the brightness can be adjusted by turning . This setting applies equally to a focused beam and floodlight. The controls all work wonderfully and are extremely pleasant to use. In terms of quality, we have no complaints or suggestions for improvement here .
A clever iris lock protects the charging socket
At the lower end of the Olight Marauder 2 is the hidden USB-C port for charging the flashlight. The German company has come up with something special to accommodate this dust and water-proof. If the lower ring is turned counterclockwise, the ingenious charging connection cover opens as if by magic. A great feature that makes using the iris shutter just fun and well thought out.
As for the light itself, it can first be said that it is white light, which aims at brightness and distance. The purposes described by the manufacturer also fit this statement. Because the Olight Marauder 2 is simply perfect for finding people, for hunting or for outdoor enthusiasts. Of course, it also proves its worth when fishing, camping or on a hike. With 14,000 lumens and a range of 800 meters , the extreme flashlight is not for children’s hands or for indoor use. Various safety mechanisms for the powerful flashlight
For a safe use of this beast, as the manufacturer calls it, some safety precautions are necessary on the product . After 30 seconds of inactivity, the flashlight locks itself and can only be unlocked by pressing the knob safely and turning the controller 90 degrees at the same time. This prevents accidental switching on in the backpack, for example. After unlocking, the Marauder 2 can then be switched on by pressing the button again. An integrated distance sensor from the third brightness level prevents scorching or burns if objects or body parts are too close. If this is the case, the flashlight automatically switches down to the second brightness level.
The angular light image in spot mode initially appears unusual, but it is very pleasant. Of course, we had to follow the manufacturer’s specifications for the headlight range of 800 meters. The test was carried out and passed on a dirt road of exactly this length. At this distance you may not see every leaf on the tree, but the lighting works perfectly and we were very impressed . Even a high beam from the car does not compete with the extreme illumination with the Marauder 2 from Olight. Excellent lighting quality with a range of up to 800 meters
The two-dimensional light mode does not throw a recognizable cone in front of the flashlight, but spreads even wider . At the highest brightness level, a range of 450 meters is still achieved – strong! Of course, the brightness also affects the battery life, which is still enormous. With a capacity of over 5,000 mAh, a maximum usage time of 59 hours is specified. Charging takes only 2.5 hours thanks to the commendable USB-C standard and powerful power adapter . The integrated battery can also be used as a power bank and charge the smartphone just as quickly. The battery with bidirectional charging of 30 watts does a very good job here.

For us, the Olight Marauder 2 is one of the outdoor gadgets not only because of the IPX8 standard and is an extraordinary flashlight. The massive and solid workmanship can be felt immediately. From our point of view, the high-quality materials are nowhere in need of improvement and are flawless. The good weight is due to the integrated technology and should not be rated as a disadvantage. Rather the other way around, because this makes the Marauder 2 extremely comfortable to hold . The supplied lanyard gives your hand a break. The charging method and speed are excellent.
